Moonlit Woodland

Silver birch trees are my favourite trees. They’re elegant, sociable trees. Always clustered together but each one individual with a unique pattern on its trunk and its own twisted shape - as though each one has deliberately decided to take a different path towards the sun.

In Spring and Summer their foliage is delicate enough to allow enough sunlight through to create dappled shadows on the woodland floor. In Autumn and Winter as their leaves disappear, they reveal the sheer elegance of their filigree branch structure. A tree for all seasons.
